Dentures

What are complete dentures?

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. A complete denture is used when all of the teeth are missing.

Can they be placed as soon as teeth are removed?

Yes. They can be placed immediately so that you will not have to go without teeth but a replacement will be needed after 8-12 weeks when the gum tissue and tooth sockets have healed. Bone and gums shrink with time after teeth have been removed so a new denture is needed to obtain the best fit after healing has completed.

What are partial dentures?

A partial denture replaces missing teeth when some teeth still remain. It can attach to the other teeth for better fit and retention.

How can implants help the fit of my dentures?

Mini dental implants can be placed in the mouth as anchora for the denture to fit onto for a more lock and key fit. Many patients with regular dentures enjoy the enhanced fit of dentures onto implants which makes them feel a lot more like normal teeth.
